Doodpathri

Budgam 4.8

Doodhpathri is a beautiful hill station in Kashmir, renowned for its lush green meadows, crystal-clear streams, and picturesque landscapes. Surrounded by pine forests and snow-capped mountains, it offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, families, and adventure seekers looking to experience the untouched beauty of Kashmir.

Doodpathri

Doodhpathri is a breathtaking alpine meadow valley in Kashmir, located around 42–45 km from Srinagar in Budgam district. It is often called the “Valley of Milk” because of the milky-white appearance of the Shaliganga River that flows through its wide green meadows. According to local belief, the name comes from the river’s white foam and also from old legends connected to the valley’s sacred past.

The valley is surrounded by lush green grasslands, pine and deodar forests, and snow-covered Himalayan peaks. In summer, the entire area turns into a carpet of green with wildflowers, while in winter it gets covered in snow, giving it a completely different magical look. Unlike commercial tourist spots like Gulmarg or Pahalgam, Doodhpathri is still relatively less crowded and peaceful, making it ideal for nature lovers, photographers, and families looking for relaxation.

Visitors can enjoy pony rides, riverside walks, photography, picnics, and short treks inside the valley. The sound of flowing water, fresh mountain air, and open landscapes make it a perfect escape from busy city life. The best time to visit is from April to September, when the roads are clear and the meadows are fully green.

Extra charges in Doodhpathri may include Srinagar to Doodhpathri transportation (taxi or cab), pony rides for exploring meadows, and optional local guide services for sightseeing assistance. Visitors may also need to pay separately for entry or vehicle parking fees at check posts, as well as any food and beverages purchased from local stalls during the trip.

During the visit, tourists often pay extra for photography assistance, horse riding activities, and adventure experiences (if available seasonally). In winter, if the valley is covered with snow, snow-related equipment or special transport arrangements may also cost additional charges. Any expenses related to personal shopping, snacks, or services not included in the tour package are also considered extra.
